WELCOME TO
CLARKSTON
In partnership with DeKalb County and Roots Down, we’re transforming all 23 DeKalb County Public Libraries into climate-resilient community hubs. These once-ordinary green spaces are now thriving with native plants, fruiting trees, edible gardens, and pollinator habitats — all designed to restore ecosystems, build healthy soils, and engage the community.
Through regenerative landscaping and partnerships like CompostNow, we’re diverting food waste and modeling sustainable earth stewardship. This guide will walk you through the plants growing at your local library and give you a closer look at the powerful changes happening right outside your library doors.

GreenHive is already leading change in Dekalb County
GreenHive is an ecosystem of students, leaders, and climate activists (ages 18–25) who are passionate about climate action and environmental justice. As a signature program of the Fruitful Community Foundation, GreenHive empowers young people through education, advocacy, and hands-on environmental work.
At the heart of our mission is a commitment to earth stewardship, environmental policy, and climate resilience, especially in urban communities. Through our long-standing partnership with DeKalb County, we've helped build climate-resilient landscapes at libraries, senior centers, and community spaces across the county.
GreenHive is more than a program — it’s a leadership pipeline. Our Leadership Program has graduated five cohorts of changemakers, including our most recent class in collaboration with the DeKalb Youth Commission (DYC). Participants emerge equipped with real-world experience in advocacy, organizing, and sustainable land care.
We are proud to collaborate with partners like Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, DeKalb County, IamGaleo, Fernbank Museum, and a growing network of schools and nonprofits. Together, we’re working to deepen the interconnectedness between people, policy, and the planet.
