Join us for a remarkable event as The Jane Goodall Institute's Roots & Shoots and The Fruitful Community Foundation come together to celebrate the International Day of Peace at the stunning Legacy Park in Decatur, GA. This special youth celebration will feature the esteemed ethologist and conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, renowned worldwide and honored as a UN Messenger of Peace. 

Get ready to be inspired as Dr. Jane Goodall takes the stage and shares her compelling reasons for hope, connecting everyday individual actions to a larger, global transformation. Witness the beauty of peace doves created by talented students from DeKalb County as they take flight, symbolizing harmony and unity. 

The highlight of the event will be a captivating 20-30 minute talk by Dr. Jane Goodall amidst the serene surroundings of the Pecan Grove section of Legacy Park. Her words will ignite passion and awaken the spirit of conservation within each attendee. 

To commemorate this momentous occasion, Dr. Jane Goodall, accompanied by a select group of children, will participate in a symbolic tree planting at the front of the park. This act will stand as a living testament to DeKalb County's commitment to environmental sustainability and the power of community.

Legacy Park, known as the greenest community in Georgia, provides the perfect backdrop for this event. Located in Decatur, near Clarkston, renowned as the "most diverse square mile in America," it serves as a testament to the importance of inclusivity and collaboration in creating a more peaceful and sustainable world.

This is a free event, though RSVP is required.

Please bring reusable water bottles and little/no trash-producing food items.

This is a fair-weather event.

Advance notice will be given to confirmed attendees if it is canceled due to inclement weather.

This is a youth event. Please use discretion regarding clothing. No profanity, images of weapons, or inappropriate images and messages, please.

PARKING

There will not be any onsite parking for this event. 

Please park at the following addresses, and a shuttle will transport you to and from Legacy Park. 

To accommodate for parking capacity, please be patient as we shuttle folks back and forth.
