Excerpt from Wikipedia: Catmint is a flowering plant also known as Faassen's catnip. It's an herbaceous perennial, with oval, opposite, intricately veined, gray—green leaves on square stems. The foliage is fragrant, and it grows from 1–2 feet tall by 1–3 feet wide.
The plant produces small but showy, abundant, two-lipped, trumpet-shaped, soft lavender flowers, from spring through autumn. The seeds are predominantly sterile, and so the plant will not reseed as an invasive species, unlike some other nepeta species.
Size: 9 inches to 3 feet tall.
Uses: Herbal tea for upset stomach, respiratory problems, and calming effects, as well as in soups and sauces.
Companions: Roses, valerian, basil, allium, coral bells, coreopsis, yarrow, and daylilies.
Habitat: Catmint needs full sun and is heat and drought tolerant. It attracts bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects and pollinators.
Harvest: Harvest when plant is 6 inches or taller and in full bloom. Bundle stalks together and hang upside down to dry in a dark place.
Fun Fact: Catmint acts as natural bug repellent and is a less potent version of catnip (your cat will love this too!).
